EDI is too expensive and complicated for many manufacturers and distributors. They use EDI for purchase orders, but not for “advanced” documents. Many EDI providers are not familiar with these documents.
Comma Separated Value (CSV) files are used to prevent the data from changing and reduce file size. Excel often drops leading zeros and converts GLN numbers to scientific notation.
